Cudi (Judi), Mount

Cudi (Judi), Mount
Pronounced as the English female name Judy, according to the Koran (Sura 11:44) this is the resting place of Noah's Ark. Contrast with the biblical statement (Genesis 8:4) that the ark came to rest "on the mountains of Ararat," which has come to be identified with Mt. Ararat to the north of Mt. Cudi and near the Armenian border with Turkey.
Mt. Cudi is located near Cizre in southeastern Turkey near the Syrian and Iraqi borders. Some argue that the word Cudi derives from a form of the term Kurd. In the past, much heavy fighting occurred around Mt. Cudi between the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) and the Turkish military.
